While most are employed in private practice in small hospitals, there are increasing opportunities in other health-related fields such as: diagnostic laboratories, veterinary supply sales and food safety inspection. In general, veterinary technicians have become an integral member of the animal health care team. If contemplating a career in veterinary technology you should have a keen interest in general science, an aptitude for math and strong communication skills. Both the American Veterinary Medical Association and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America should provide more comprehensive regarding this challenging career path.
